About us

Sustainability at School works to build a better future for children through reducing the environmental impact of schools and developing student and staff leadership for sustainability.

We organise, implement and measure whole school sustainability initiatives that reduce your school's carbon footprint, generate opportunities for young people to take action to protect the planet and save your school money.

Clare Garey

Founder & Director

Seeing that school leaders shared her urgency to address the climate crisis but were unsure where to begin, Clare founded Sustainability at School in 2020.

Clare's approach is clear: what is measured, matters. Her evidence- and impact-based method drives sustainable change at school-level while promoting long-term impact in the community and beyond. She complements this hands-on work with providing strategic guidance to clients at the global level, deepening her impact.

Clare's passion for progress was fostered through 20 years in the non-profit fundraising sector, including 15 years as a strategic advisor to UN agencies, environmental, social and educational organisations including WWF International, Greenpeace, International Baccalaureate, 350.org, Oxfam and MSF.

She is based in Madrid, working across Spain and internationally.
